International Womens Day

This week, we celebrated International Women’s Day, a day to recognize the many women who inspire us, challenge us, & make a difference in our communities. I was happy to attend Councillor Marianne Wilkinson’s annual International Women’s Day Breakfast and thank her for her many years of service to our community! Marianne’s leadership has motivated us all to do better each and every day.

Thank you to Councillor Allan Hubley and Mayor Jim Watson for hosting respective Women’s Day Celebrations! Great to see the women in our communities getting the recognition they deserve.

Another cause for celebration this week was the revealing of the new $10 bank note. Minister Bill Morneau revealed the note this week, which features civil rights activist Viola Desmond – the first woman to feature on a Canadian bank note other than the Queen.

Students & Seniors

I was delighted to stop by St. Isidore School in Kanata and speak with Grade 3 students on a wide variety of topics. Thank you for your insightful questions!

I also had the pleasure of walking to class with students at Roch Carrier to promote road safety and driver awareness around the school. It is all of our responsibility to keep our community’s children safe, especially at school. Thank you for having me!

This week I was able to pop by the Forest Hill Retirement Residence and speak with seniors about what matters most to them. It was great to hear from residents and learn what we can do better as a community for our seniors!

I had the honour of speaking at CISCO Canada’s #WomenInTech event this week about how to be a good leader. I spoke about how service to others and building trust are the foundation of strong leadership. Thank you for having me and for all the wonderful questions!

I was also honoured to be in the company of so many brilliant and accomplished women at the Women in Data Science Memorial Scholarship Breakfast. It was such a joy to see many old friends and colleagues and welcome the next generation of WIDS!

Town Halls

This month I will be hosting two Town Halls. On March 25th, come join me at the West Carleton Community Complex at 2:00pm and in Kanata at the Richcraft Recreation Complex at 6:30 as we discuss topics of interest to you!
